Fellow hope dealers,
Below is the latest IV, an injection of 5 things giving me positive energy.
Climate tech news exciting me
There’s an EV pickup truck price war brewing.
Cheaper is better when it comes to consumer adoption of electrification. Slate’s sub $30k truck clearly lit a fire under Ford, and their newly announced Ford Fathom is a direct, encouraging response.
What I’m watching
I can be a sucker for nature lover shows, and the new series “Lion” tugs on all the right heartstrings, with a twist. Lion has nat geo’s typical beautiful wildlife cinematography combined with Jon Favreau’s cinematic skills. Add a Hans Zimmer score, and there’s something for everybody.
What I’m listening to
James Brown is an antidote when I’m in building mode. Deep cut “Baby Here I Come” puts an edgy, funky pep in my step. Can I get a witness?
Book I’m reading
Irreducible by Federico Faggin, the inventor of the microprocessor. Faggin gives me hope that AI won’t fully replace humans and makes me wonder whether quantum will get us closer to understanding counsciousness.
“Life is like a flame that produces other flames by dividing itself. This is why, to create a new life, one must always start with life.”
Scientific breakthrough blowing my mind
There’s a new mRNA vaccine that could prevent melanoma from returning after treatment. I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent a lot of time in the sun. My grandfather had melanoma, and it’s a fairly common form of cancer, so I’m excited there’s a vaccine showing promise.
Combine this latest IV with brand new Hope Dose podcast episodes coming your way for a full dose of positivity.
…and when in doubt, reassure yourself that no matter what your news feed says, we’re not quite f*d.
Warmly,
Matt
